   (loc.) 1 to lay or put down, to put, to place anything except large objects. (Pb.11.145) 2 to put on, to wear clothes, ornaments, etc. ű ಅವನು ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಟೋಪಿ ಇಕ್ಕಿ ಹೊರಟ. He went out putting a cap on his head. 3 to smear《oil, etc.》ű ಭಕ್ತರು ದೇವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೀಗಂಧವನ್ನು ಇಕ್ಕಿದರು. The devotees put sandal paste to the idol of god. 4 to fasten or set《flowers, etc.》on the hair-knot or braids of hair ű ಹೆಂಗಸರು ಜಡೆಗೆ ಹೂವನ್ನು ಇಕ್ಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. Womenfolk put flowers on their plaited hair. 5 to serve《food》 ű ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಊಟವಿಕ್ಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. They feed thousands of people in this temple. 6 to give 《money, alms, name, medicine, etc.》 ű ಜಂಗಮರಿಗೆ ಭಿಕ್ಷೆ ಇಕ್ಕಬೇಕು. We must give alms to Shiva devotees. 7 to throw away, to cast away 《rubbish, etc.》 ű ಸಿಂಗಾಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಸ ಇಕ್ಕಿದರೆ ದಂಡಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರಂತೆ. It is said that one is penalized if one throws litter on the road. 8 to move 《a fan, etc.》 9 to spread 《a fishing net, bed sheet, etc.》 10 to shut《a door》 ű ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮನೆಯ ಕದ ಇಕ್ಕಬೇಕು. One should shut the door of the house in the night. 11 to employ, to appoint《a person》to a task ű ಆ ನಟಿ ಮನೆಗಾವಲಿಗೆ ಮೂರು ಜನರನ್ನು ಇಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. That actress has appointed three men for security of the house.
