P. p. ಪಟ್ಟು see e. g. ಅನುಶಯಮ್ಬಡು, ಅಳವಡು, ಒಡಮ್ಬಡು, ಕಡೈವಡು, ದೈನ್ಯಮ್ಬಡು, ನೇರ್ಪಡು, ಪಡಲ್ಪಡು, ಪರಿಪಡು, ಪ್ರಿಯವಡು, ಬಡವಡು, ಬೆಕ್ಕಸಮ್ಬಡು, ಬೇರ್ಪಡು, ಸನ್ತಸಮ್ಬಡು, ಹೈಸರುವಡು, etc. as in Te., T. and M., so in Kannaḍa this verb (like ಪಡೈ 1) is used to form a kind of passive voice (ಕರ್ಮಣಿವಾಚ್ಯ cf. remark b, ad ಕೌಳ್ 1), a use that is old, although this peculiar formation had not yet got the grammatical name of passive voice at the time of the composition of the Śabdamaṇidarpaṇa, because the sūtra which refers to it in that grammar (251 b), is an interpolation based on the (later) Śabdānuśāsana, as it does not ocur in the best MSS.
