It remained as a stain in his professional career as he took a bribe. (n.) (dirt) 〈being〉dirty ű ಮಸಿಬಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟರೂ ರತ್ನ ಹೊಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. The gem shines even if kept in dirty cloth.

[ಮಸಿಯಿನ್ದಂ ಜಗಮೈಲ್ಲಮಂ ದಿತಿಸುತಂ ಮುಂ ಮೌಳ್ದನೋ Pb. 4, 49; Ap. 11, 109; Cv. 842]. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬಣ್ಣಾ ಮಸಿ ನುಂಗಿತು. -ದೈಸೈಯಿಲ್ಲದವ ಮಸಿಗಿನ್ತ ಕಡೈ. -ನಸೀ ಭ್ರಮೈ ಇದ್ದವ ಮಸಿ ಆದರೂ ಹಾಕಿಕೌಣ್ಡಾನು. -ತೃಷೈ ಆದವಗೈ ಮಸಿಕೈಣ್ಡ ತನ್ದುಕೌಟ್ಟ. -ದೋಸಿ ಬಿಸಿಯೈನ್ದು, ಮಸಿಕೈಣ್ಡ ತಿನ್ದ (Prvs.). see Prvs. s. ಮೂಗು, ಶಿಶು, ಶುಚಿ. -ಮಸಿಕುಡಿಕೈ. = ಮಸಿಪಾತ್ರೈ No. 1. (My.). — ಮಸಿಯಾಗು. -ಆಗು. to become charcoal (said of buried money, Cpr. 9, 12; My.). 2, crock to be produced (My.). — ಮಸಿವಾವಾಳ. a large shrub or small tree with pinnate leaves (Z.). @ this may not be Sk.; ಮಷಿ is evidently a Sanskritised form of ಮಸಿ.
